Our Katrina Villagers will arrive with a wide variety of skills from auto repair to zipper installation. And they are going to need something to do to keep their spirits up. Helping each other and then reaching out to their host communities will do the trick for many of them but not everyone knows how to set up an exchange system.

Job banks and barter systems will probably spring up in villages spontaneously after a while but there is no reason to wait. By kick starting these systems villagers will begin to improve their standard of living immediately.
